Forward in the Field
What is Forward in the Field?
Forward in the Field is an ongoing Learning Network series that highlights active community-based and academic research projects, including virtual trainings, workshops, and campaigns, all aimed at addressing GBV across Canada.
The series aims to strengthen collective efforts by providing a platform to share research insights, expand outreach, and support recruitment. In doing so, we hope to foster a dynamic, interconnected network of organizations and individuals united in preventing and responding to GBV.
To contribute to a future edition, we invite you to submit your project using the form below .
To explore previous Forward in the Field releases, please see the archived newsletters below.

Please Note: Some of the projects featured in past Forward in the Field newsletters may no longer be active. For the most up-to-date information, we encourage you to reach out directly to the organizations or communities listed.
Submission Guidelines
We invite you to submit your community-based or academic projects and initiatives for consideration in future editions.
Submissions are open to organizations, networks, researchers, and practitioners working to address gender-based violence across Canada.
We invite submissions featuring:
- Virtual or online trainings and workshops
- Campaigns and awareness initiatives
- Research projects recruiting participants
- Other resources that are accessible online and support learning, collaboration, or capacity-building within the GBV and allied sectors
As part of our selection process, we prioritize initiatives that are accessible online or virtually, especially those offered free of charge. This helps encourage broad participation from audiences across the GBV sector.
Please note that Forward in the Field focuses on sharing learning, research, and knowledge-mobilization projects rather than programs that provide direct services to survivors. However, we may feature service-based initiatives that demonstrate innovative approaches, evaluation findings, or transferable practices that contribute to sector learning and collaboration.
While we strive to include as many submissions as possible, please note that the number of projects featured will depend on our capacity and the order in which submissions are received.
